Periodontitis is the number 1 widespread disease – ahead of tooth decay

Periodontitis (colloquially parodontosis) is an inflammation of the so-called periodontium, which is responsible for holding the teeth in the jaw. As bone breaks down, teeth loosen and become loose. Periodontal disease usually progresses without any symptoms that are noticeable for a long time and, if left untreated, will inevitably lead to tooth loss.

The good news: in combination with regular professional tooth cleaning in aftercare, periodontitis has a very good prognosis today and can be stopped in the early stages with the right treatment.

The periodontitis treatment is carried out by the dentist in the practice and aims to actively reduce the amount of germs in the pocket.
It may make sense to use antibiotics to fight the responsible bacteria that have already invaded the body.

The most innovative method is lasering the pocket under anesthesia. The bacteria are killed by the high-energy light and the inner membrane of the periodontal pocket is removed. This allows the gum pocket to close again.
